Let us be completely honest; we have all forgotten to get a gift for somebody at some point. . However, unlike regular shopping, last-minute gift shopping is one of the most stressful processes known to mankind. Although no holiday is complete without last-minute stress, hopefully, this article will make the holiday season a bit easier. Forgot to get a gift? No problem. One of the best things about Arlington is the numerous local boutiques and shops where you can find great (sometimes last-minute) gifts for friends and family.
The Lemoncello boutique is the epitome of the word “boutique.” It is located in Lee Heights, and surrounded by numerous other businesses, including Chipotle and Old Dominion Pizza, making it the perfect place to snack and shop. There is a reason why this boutique is so beloved among the locals. Not only do they carry good brands for gift giving such as, Jellycat, Scout and Pura Vida, but the staff are always welcoming and happy to help you. Nicole Kahle is the owner/manager of the Lemoncello Boutique
“You can shop for high school students or 10 year olds or your mother or your grandmother,” Kahle said .
Another amazing thing about the Lemoncello Boutique is the importance of customer opinions in the decision-making process regarding brands that are put in the shop.
“Sometimes there’s people coming in and telling us, “Oh, I saw this, or this brand is really great. You should carry it,” Kahle said
Not to mention, Lemoncello goes all out in December. Christmas music is always playing, and the shop is adorned with red and green, which makes your shopping experience a bit more festive.
Covet is an adorable local store in Arlington and a great place to buy gifts this holiday season. Located at 5140 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22205, they are stocked with everything you need, from Christmas socks to scented bath bombs. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted with a warm welcome from a member of the incredibly kind staff of Covet. Right when you walk in, you can feel the snug, friendly atmosphere. Outlined almost like a house, the entrance to the store is through a front door and up a flight of stairs. Covet also curates brands and products that you can feel good about supporting.
“When curating the shop, I always look for brands that I find pretty, timely, funny, ethically made, purposeful, and unusual.” The owner Autumn Clayton said.
“We also offer free gift wrap so even if you stop by the shop on the way to your party or event your gift will never look last minute.”
Urban Farmhouse is a wonderful place to shop this year when looking for gifts. Since it is the holiday season, Urban Farmhouse is inclusive in supporting all religions and cultures with items for Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and more. The store has a warm and welcoming environment, with holiday music playing and charming signs stationed outside. One of the best things about Urban Farmhouse is that it has something for everybody. The shop has items ranging from candles to fun stickers. The friendly staff are just the cherry on top of a perfect shopping experience.
“We try to have things made as locally as possible. Some of those people are just artists that I like in my own world or people who have been recommended to us,” Urban Farmhouse owner Sarah Allen said.
“We just love W and L students here. I’ve actually had a bunch of kids from your school work for me, and have a few right now.”
There are so many great places in Arlington to get holiday gifts because of the amazing small businesses. Shopping locally is so important to support upcoming entrepreneurs and it is a great way to put money back into the local economy.
