Do Something Club is a service club where the focus is on inspiring young people to take action in their community through creative service projects. The club was created in February of 2014 by seniors Bailey Hall and Rebecca Wroblewski. “I had the idea for the club and Rebecca and I worked to make it happen,” Hall said. “I thought it would be something I would want to be apart of and hopefully other people would too. I really wanted to use the resources I had to make a difference in our community.”

The club meets on Mondays in OC1 immediately after school. Each meeting is roughly less than an hour long, providing students enough time to engage in the planned activity. In that hour, club members do a variety of community service crafts and activities.

Around the holidays they focus on fundraising. Each year they have a setup at the Holiday Bazaar. They do many activities around the holidays, such as Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. They make cards and activity books for children in hospitals around the holiday season and small gift bags for children who live in homeless shelters in the area.

A main concern for the group is the future of the club. “I would love if the club could continue. I think we have given it a strong foundation,” Hall said. “The only thing we really need is for people to step up and take action because a lot of the members are seniors and will be leaving.”

The club offers a calm and welcoming environment for its members. Everyone has the opportunity to build strong bonds with one another. “For me the best element of the club is it is just fun to interact. Everyone is really friendly and welcoming,” Hall said. “You can have fun and at the same time be content with what you did that day because you helped out your community.”
