Star-studded predictions

In a year fraught with political and social turmoil, many citizens have been flocking to movie theaters around the country to enjoy a little cinematic escapism. Over the summer there were many movies that did not meet the public’s high expectations, including Suicide Squad, Independence Day: Resurgence and Alice Through the Looking Glass. These ‘flops’ have been forgotten in the wake of the many wonderful movies that have premiered this year, many of which came out in the past month.
Now that it is the new year, it is time for these standout works to be recognized. There are many prestigious awards presented each year, but the Academy Awards (Oscars) are considered to be the biggest prizes of the year. The nominations for them will be announced on January 24. Almost a month later, the Oscars Ceremony will be held on February 26 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. With the award season in full swing, Crossed Sabres decided to make a few predictions of who will be honored on Oscar Sunday.
